The Seven Brains: Wisdom beyond the mind…
7 centres of wisdom - beyond the mind…
Most humans rely almost entirely on one brain - the head. But what if I told you that within you, there are at least seven centres of intelligence? Seven distinct ways of knowing, perceiving, and making sense of the world. Each has its own wisdom, its own voice, and often, its own agenda when it comes to decisions.
In modern life, the mental brain reigns supreme - logic, analysis and planning. It’s the master we serve, often at the expense of deeper, more embodied ways of knowing. But what if we reversed that? What if the head became a trusted advisor, rather than the sole authority?
This is the journey I guide people through—a somatic and experiential exploration of your full embodied intelligence. Through it, you’ll come to know yourself in a more wholistic way, learning how to tune into and integrate these varying inner voices. Over time, this practice becomes second nature, allowing you to make faster, clearer, and more aligned decisions.
Over time, you’ll discover your most reliable inner voices for you - the ones that consistently guide you true. This deepens trust in your first intuitive flash, your “gut” instinct, making quick decisions feel clearer with more confidence.
The Head
This is the logical brain and the one we are already extremely familiar with. In our current reality of modern day, it is not just the dominant intelligence, its the Master. Instead, think of this brain as your reliable accountant, record keeper and planner. The logical, analytical, and strategic mind is a powerful tool, but it usually serves us best when we listen to it as a faithful guide, rather than the dictator.
The Heart
This is your voice of compassion and the question primarily is “What would Love do?”. What’s the most compassionate outcome for all concerned, including yourself and all others in any given situation.
This intelligence brings depth, assesses connection and community. Where is love most expansive?
The Gut’s 3 centres:
The Gut Instinct
A primal, deeply embodied knowing. I feel this is our spirit embodied in matter, the body’s immediate knowing of “yes” or “no.” Just listen quietly… it usually simply arises. Notice if the mind quickly comes in to counter it with logical opposition!
The “Guts” of the matter
This is where our emotions sit, the felt sense of any situation or decision. Ask yourself what feelings and emotions arise in response to each possibility or outcome from the decision we might come to, or that’s going to arise. You may need to go down a few layers, “And what’s under that?” until something reveals itself that you may not have known was under there. Can be an “Ah ha” moment.
The Gut Fears
These are not to be ignored, but examined without judgement. Is it wise caution or outdated programming? Allow all the fears of any possible outcome to arise and be spoken. These are valid to be heard and there could be a few differing voices in here. Give them all space. It’s data collection remember. To know your fears is vital knowledge in planning and executing projects as well as in decision making.
The Sex Centre
This is where your aliveness lives! Where’s the passion here? What makes you feel juicy or “turns you on!”. This is the intelligence of vitality, creativity, life force (or eros) and deep desire. If this energy is present, then you can almost certainly guarantee a sustained enthusiasm for a particular direction or project.
The Shadow
Give yourself some space and privacy for this one. It’s not necessarily one to discuss with just anyone, perhaps a trusted close friend or your journal. Ask yourself: “If there were no accountability, no consequences or longer term ramifications, what would I do?” This is fabulous awareness and can reveal hidden influences, unseen or unspoken motivations, and ultimately help you be in alignment with your own personal moral code. To know your shadow, means it’s much less likely to bite you on the arse!
For your fridge!
Summary
Once you have gone through the brains for any given inquiry, you may at first feel even more confused! But I find that if you do a quick re-cap, this can instantly bring a realisation of what’s right for you. Remember that these are YOUR brains. Other people may make different decisions to the same conundrum.
Personally I believe we are each an idiosyncratic puzzle piece of life’s Mystery and this diversity is the richness of humanity.
”Be you… you’re the only one qualified.”
Is there other wisdom inside me that I could explore?
You can engage in dialogue with any inner voice—each one holds a piece of your truth. Start with the loudest; they demand to be heard first. But don’t stop there. As you listen, the quieter ones will begin to speak, revealing insights that were always there, just waiting for the space to emerge and for you to listen. The more you tune in, the more you come to truly know yourself—not just as a single perspective, but as a rich, multifaceted being with deep wisdom woven throughout you.
Some inner voices may be familiar, yet at the same time, not make complete sense to you… as if they don’t even sound like you. You are not going crazy! Perhaps these are voices and old conditioning from your upbringing, family, societal culture or your ancestral lineage long past. These often no longer serve your highest personal timeline. This is especially true if they seem repetitive, judgemental or negative. Then I’d suggest to seek out an Obsidian constellation to reveal the hidden entanglements and release these with grace. These processes reach into the collective and set us all free!
Enjoy!
